What is Pharmacy First? 

If you are experiencing any of the below symptoms you can self present to any participating pharmacy without needing to see a GP. Pharmacists can prescribe antibiotics and antivirals where clinically appropriate. 


What conditions can be treated at my pharmacy? 

Your local pharmacy can now supply prescription-only treatment, if they believe you need it, for the following conditions: 

  • Sinusitis (aged 12 years+)
  • Sore throat (aged 5 years+)
  • Earache (aged 1 - 17 years)
  • Infected insect bite (aged 1 year+)
  • Impetigo (aged 18 years+)
  • Shingles (aged 18 years+)
  • Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (women aged 16 - 64 years)

Other conditions and medication pharmacies can help you with:

  • Acne
  • Cold sores
  • Contraception Pill
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Diarrhoea (new)
  • Dry Eyes
  • Emergency contraception
